Wyoming Adult Day Care Information
Wyoming defines adult day care as a community-based group that provides activities of daily living support and supervision services programming based on a social model during any part of a day, but less than 24 hours a day. Persons served must be eighteen (18) years of age or older with physical and mental disabilities and have an individual activity care plan.
A facility has the right to refuse to serve adults with communicable disease, adults who are actively alcoholic or addicted to drugs, adults with a history of violence to self or others, and/or whose behavior is not manageable within the group setting. They may also choose not to accept clients whose need for care requires more time and skill than the individual program is able and qualified to provide.
Wyoming Adult Day Care Minimum Standards
In Wyoming as long as a client’s physician has deemed him capable of administering medicine to themselves, and has provided written authorization, then the client must be allowed to do so. However, if a client needs assistance in medication administration, every staff person who administers the medicine shall be authorized by the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act. A written record of all medicine administered or distributed to the participants while at the adult day care facility must be maintained and kept at the facility for six years.
The state requires a staff to participant ratio of 1:6. During the hours of operation, at least one employee or staff member who is on the premises must have current certification in cardiovascular pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) issued through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. At least once a year, a formal evaluation shall be conducted at the end of the State of Wyoming fiscal year. The summary of adult day care requirements in Wyoming can be found here.
