Knolls West is horrible! If I could I would not give them even 1 star. My mother was transferred from Victor Valley Hosp. to Knolls for physical therapy after having multiple mini strokes, staff that would come in had no clue why my mom was there. They thought she was there because of a surgery..not that fact that she was paralyzed on her left side from strokes. The usual wait time when my mom would call them to help her was up to an hour. That was an hour of her waiting with a soiled diaper. At night it was even worse. No one would come in her room from 11-7 in the morning, sometimes later. She could not walk nor help herself. So once again, for 6 hours or more she would be laying in a soiled diaper and sometimes throw up. The nursing staff were not attentive enough. Our hope was for her to recover so that she could be treated for lymphoma which she was diagnosed with 1 week prior to being sent to Knolls. However, due to the staff not having enough medical knowledge my mother passed away from cardiac arrest while there. She had been showing signs all day that she was having a heart attack and nursing staff failed to notice. She tried to tell them multiple times that something was wrong but no one listened they only gave her medicine for nausea which is a sign for a heart attack. She had spinal pain and jaw stiffness and pressure. It wasn't until my mother was in cardiac arrest that they realized what was going on. Nearly, 10 hours later. Had their staff been more attentive and better trained the situation could have been different. My uncle who was not listed on my mother's medical contacts list came in and continuously asked the nurses to give my mother pain killers. The staff had no clue who this guy was yet, because he was asking for them to administer my mom pills, they did so. He could have been anyone of the street and they would have done it. Once again, they did not pay attention to the charts because my moms was there for having multiple episodes of mini strokes. She should have not been given norcos. Had they also looked at her paperwork or even asked who my uncle was she wouldn't have been given such strong pain killers. I cannot change what happened or bring my mom back. However, I feel like others should be aware to not take their loved ones there.

When my brother first got there, it seemed as if NO ONE cared and the staff was just collecting a paycheck. He got there in February and its now May. The staff that was there when he got there know his struggle and they really care about my brother getting better. A new group of CNAs and LVNs have made it and so far so good. The rating would have been higher if the staff was different when he first got there. I've had to check some of the CNAs for not having their badges on. Silly me for wanting to know whom I'm speaking with.

Worst place to ever be in as I was in there awhile back and the staff there would leave me laying in bed in my own urine and decide and it would take a half hour or longer to answer my calls for help.

Seems to be short staffed. Not enough people to do the work. Takes 30 minuites for someone to show up for a call light. They leave paitents who can't walk in bathroom alone. Don't take your loved ones here
