As Mom aged she suffered the roller-coaster of dementia. Her Somerford family helped her through the fears and confusion that dementia inflicted on her. Residents of Somerford, like my Mom, are cared for and cared about in this homey and professional facility. The food is good! Daily group gatherings exercise minds, memories and gently the elderly bodies. Somerford is a nice place. Big shaded patio. Nice living/dining central "great room" in each of four wings. Sparkling clean. The day-to-day hands-on aides and caretakers are happy and therefore have the energy and spirit to give emotional support to residents. Mom stayed in other high-end elderly facilities and the scope of services at Somerford was clearly the best we had experienced. Somerford handled all, and I mean ALL, the details of care. My brothers and I were genuinely surprised at how exceptional the place was. Mom was often happy during her extreme old age, which can be a relentlessly sad time. Heartfelt thanks to Somerford and every single person who works there. We are humbly grateful. Thanks, Somerford.

My mother has been a resident at Somerford for 18 months. I couldn't be happier with the care that she receives. Since arriving at Somerford, her appetite has increased, her tears of loneliness have turned into smiles, and her spirit has become peaceful. Mom has always been very active in church and ladies auxiliary events and leadership. At Somerford, they recognize the need for her to continue to feel useful. They allow her to "help" under supervision. Thank you , Somerford, for making moms challenging days more enjoyable.

Our mother started her stay at Somerford Place recently and is doing extremely well. Seeing her involved in the activities and doing as well as she is doing is quite remarkable. When we first brought there we had doubts as to whether she would do well. At home she was fighting everything and everybody and was miserable. It was a real stretch to believe she would be any different at Somerford. But in about four days she was participating in the activities and enjoying the freedom of having her own room and space. The food is outstanding and William, the Chef, is very considerate of her needs. Leslie and Peggy are stellar in what they do and the nurse, Noreen, is very, very good with us and our mother. The staff and caregivers do a great job also. Five stars all the way around for Somerford Place!!!

They claim to be an Alzheimers facility however when certain Alzheimer's behavioral issues arise, it is my opinion that they do not know how to properly handle them! Their treatment is to over medicate the patient (in turn this landed my father in the ER) Our experience was Not what they portray to be at all!! I would not recommend this place for your loved ones with Alzheimer's/dementia. There are many stages to the Alzheimer's disease and in our experience at Somerford Place they did not do their job properly, they do not know how to handle Alzheimer's patients and have tried to sweep it under the rug!

mother went to Somerford Place just before Thanksgiving. Transitioning her there from her previous home was easily done due to the staff and support we received from Leslie and Peggy. In the days to follow more staff and the routine for her living there developed and the family feels she is in the right environment to meet her needs. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. The staff are very caring and welcoming. Recently mom's needs changed and she is currently getting "comfort care" The Somerford staff and the Hospice program continue to provide our mom and family with excellent care and support.
