I visit this place often because I have a loved one who volunteers in this community and I am always amazed at how kind and compassionate the team is here. The staff is ready to assist anyone, from the front staff to the different team members. The managers are helpful and the staff do their best given that they care for people with different levels of dementia. I see that at times, there are families that are unhappy but the staff remain calm and speak to them with respect. The place is always clean, residents are smiling, and the pets help make the place look like home. This is a gem of a place and for me, the people who work there are heroes! Thank you, Silverado!

The lack of leadership has caused Silverado to deteriorate. No one is effectively is in charge of Silverado Calabasas. The founders of Silverado would be disappointed that the mission and values of Silverado are not being administer. Employees are hired and quit or terminated in a short time. Caregivers are difficult to keep at Silverado Calabasas. Consistency in having the same caregiver for every resident is very important and lessens the residences agitation. Calabasas changes caregivers to patients frequently. Situation that happen are lied about by staff. There are many people with cuts and bruises from falling. Failure to use common sense and procedure of calling for paramedics when a resident is unconscious. Temporary supervisors tell resident's family that they would be glad to help them find another facility instead of addressing the problem that exist. There is an inadequate amount of caregivers to residents. Some caregivers have 11 residents. There is lack of caregivers frequently. Silverado was sited by the State licensing in March for inadequate staffing. Vida, the Silverado Corporate personnel, is to be addressing and supervising the home and providing a plan to correct this issue. The plan has yet to be seen. She is rarely at the home. Corporate lacks leadership with Silverado Calabasas, and shocking that they can not find an Executive Director for the home. This has been a problem of hiring since they removed the previous director more than 6 months ago. The assisted feeding dining area is lacking staff. 3-4 caregivers must feed 15 people. Sometimes there are only 2 caregivers to feed them. Finding the resident by asking at the front desk is not productive. Many caregivers do not respond. The same with asking for people in charge. The supervising nurse has left early several times. Residence have not been changed when diapers are spoiled. Bowel movements happen but it should not be the smell that greets you in the hall. Residence going into other residences rooms and defecating in their room and using the residences clothes to clean themselves. Patience being in the yard and not supervised. Some residence have even scaled the fence without notice only to be found on the road. The lack of timely assistance by caregivers. It may take too much time for caregiver to attend to their resident. The afternoon change of shifts leaves the floor empty of caregivers. The answer given to residence's family members now is: I would be glad to help you find another facility. What a poor response. The good ratings of Silverado were prior to 2015. What happened? Corporate does not care.

Most loving and caring treatment my husband could have received. The staff were all compassionate and attentive to his needs and displayed a remarkable ability to see past his very difficult behavior and see the man he really was. They could not have been more helpful and supportive through the most difficult time in our lives. I would give Silverado Calabasas 10 stars if I could.

Place looks clean & gorgeous! But the staff, where do I start. When i came in, 2 staff personal were standin next to the door...NOT a hello or good afternoon just came in and that's it (seriois face) the Receptionist, 'Marisol' makes it very awkward (no expression on her face not even a smile) I mention, "this is a nice place, beautiful place"...you will think she might say 'thank you' BUT! NOTHING! It's like I was talking to myself...tsk tsk tsk. On my way to the dining room, med tech just looked and didn't ask if we needed help. Ones we came in, this small philipina woman (with a loud voice) 'are you eating here to? NOT even a hi...I told her "no, I'm just here to take a picture of him and his mom". And her response (with a yelling voice) of who other residents NO!... I repeted myself again..."No ma'am just of him and his mom"... so I place both my resident and his mother together, was taking a picture AND this small Philippines lady AGAIN! (with a screaming voice) NO! just them 2 not the residents... I JUST DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE AT ALL AFTER THAT. And as I was leaving, the receptionist didn't even say 'have a nice day' or 'good bye'. I WILL NO LONGER STEP A FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN. RUDE & NOT INVITED AT ALL ??

Quite unclean and unsanitary. . Several issues with scabies outbreaks the past couple years. Scabies is highly contagious and takes rigor to contain. My aunt had many rashes including ringworm while residing there. This past September, she saw a nurse outside the facility, who diagnosed her rash as scabies. She has since left Silverado and her items were sanitized. Her skin is getting better.
