North Dakota Adult Day Care Information

Adult day care services are defined, by North Dakota, as the provision of basic care or skilled nursing facility services that meet the needs of individuals who may not remain overnight in the facility. North Dakota does not require either licensure or certification of adult day care programs. However, adult day care services facilities which operate in a licensed basic care or skilled nursing facility must have approval to provide adult day care services from the Department of Health. In addition, adult day care services provided in an unlicensed freestanding facility or in a home must meet standards established by the Department of Human Services.

North Dakota Adult Day Care Minimum Standards

Medications administration services must be available for residents. All medications must be administered only on the order of a licensed health care practitioner. The State of North Dakota has no staff to client ratio. Upon receipt of an application for an initial basic care facility license, the department may schedule an inspection, and may act upon the application after the inspection. North Dakota Adult Day Care Medicaid Waiver

Adult day care is provided under the Medicaid Aged and Disabled waiver administered by the Department of Human Services under State Administrative Rules, Chapter 75-03-23.
