Hawaii Adult Day Health Center Information
Adult Day Health Centers (ADHCs), in Hawaii, are licensed under state administrative rules for freestanding ADHCs. They must, also, comply with state administrative rules for skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities when they operate an adult day health center.
Hawaii Adult Day Care Minimum Standards
Hawaii’s Adult Day Health Centers minimum standards include staffing guidelines that require a staff to participant ratio of 1:6. Adult Day Health Centers, in Hawaii, must be inspected to determine compliance with applicable building and fire codes, and standards set by the state Department of Health. In addition, Medicaid requires that the Department of Human Services inspects centers as a part of the re-licensing process. At least once a year, facilities licensed under these rules must be inspected by appropriate fire authorities to ensure compliance with state and county fire and life safety rules and ordinances. Hawaii Adult Day Health Center Medicaid Waivers Information
There are three 1915(c) Medicaid waivers serving the elderly and disabled population in adult day care and adult day health care services. The care is provided through contracts with providers licensed by either the Department of Health or the Department of Human Services.
