California Adult Day Care Information
In California, the state licenses two types of facilities: adult day programs and adult day health care centers. Adult day health care centers must, also, be certified. If you are interested in seeing how well an adult day services provider meets its licensing requirements, you may contact your local Regional Office or County Licensing Office and make a request to review the licensee's facility file. Reviewing the file will allow you to see information related to evaluation visits conducted by the licensing agency and any complaints against the facility that were substantiated by the Department.
California Adult Day Care Minimum Standards
The California Adult Day Care Minimum Standards contain provisions in numerous areas, including: an Admission Agreement, which must be signed upon entering the program and addresses issues such as who supplies personal hygiene products and it must, also, include a signed Consent for Medical Treatment form. The minimum standards, also, address specific dementia care regulations that include that adult day health care centers that offer care for adults with dementia must provide staff training regarding the use and operation of control devises designed to limit the use of exits, the protection of participants personal rights, what to do for wandering behavior and acceptable methods of redirection, and emergency evacuation procedures.
